I really love Alessandra's books. I enjoyed Hollywood Dirt a lot, but Love, Chloe just fell really short for me. The whole story and the way it was written just felt seriously disjointed. I felt like the fluidity of the story just wasn't there and I was bouncing around from thought to scattered thought.

I felt like the books started out with such promise. You have the spoiled rich girls who's world suddenly drops out from under her. Her college holding her diploma until she pays her tuition, her parents hiding from the feds, her fancy clothes the only thing left on her back. I felt like this could really get a chance at some true self discovery, and she did have some, but everything was so contrite to me. Even after everything she'd been through she was opinionated and bitchy. When she first meets Carter she brushes him off as the help, even though she is truly nothing but the help herself.

I did love how she was kinda put in her place when she found out that Carter was the original "rich kid" and he just wanted to make sure that she fell for him, and not the money. However I didn't like the way she just walked up to his door and they fell into bed, it just seemed so out of place to me. I never felt an honest connection between Chloe and Carter. The whole story with her boss and what was happening with her also just left a really sour taste in my mouth. The only one that I did like was her bosses husband, he seemed like the only one who was real with his feelings and his personality. So much of the book just made me dizzy with the back and forth, and the way it was written just didn't work.

Overall I just found the story to be lacking, and the ending really didn't work for me at all. I feel bad cause I know others loved this story but for me it just didn't work. However I do love Alessandra's writing in general and I will keep reading her books in the future.

Love Chloe a standalone novel edition by Alessandra Torre Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews

What a perfect weekend read. It was rainy here and the perfect excuse for me to stay cuddled up in bed and read Alessandra Torre’s latest book. To tell you the truth I would have done it even if it had been bright and sunny, but at least the bad weather made me feel better about lounging around pretending I had nothing else to do. I waited all week to read this when I wouldn’t have work and other interruptions, and it didn’t disappoint. I’m used to the suspense and thrill of Torre’s books, but her talent isn’t only in those categories. No, she is also now a master of contemporary romance. This book is different than any of her others and just as intriguing. I was captured by the first page. I highly recommend this book to anyone who’s looking for an angst-free, light-hearted read ready to get lost in the pages of Chloe Madison’s life.

Love, Chloe is Chloe Madison’s journey to self-discovery after her life as a spoiled rich girl is torn out from under her when her family assets are seized by the government forcing her to find a job and support herself. From living the life of the social elite to becoming ‘the help’.

They say the job makes the person. It needed to work faster. I was a disorganized mess, one that lived on fast food and my best friends’ scraps. I beat on the glass of my old world and desperately wanted back in, each day in my new life more discouraging, the varnish of my prior life rubbing off, a new Chloe emerging. I didn’t want her—I only wanted the past.

Chloe was easy to fall in love with as she found herself and became a better person. Each flaw she discovered and embraced and tried to make better, only made her that much more endearing. As she fought with her weakness for her ex who could give her life she once held and wanted, to meeting and falling in love with a maintenance man who helped show her a new Chloe. A better Chloe. One she wanted to be instead of the empty life she had led.

“…you’re nicer now,” she said gently. “You’re smarter. You see things differently. Before, you wouldn’t have given Carter the time of day.”

Alessandra Torre’s is one of my all-time favorite authors. Love, Chloe is a lighter book than she normally writes with surprisingly no angst. Instead, she provided us with a light-hearted, comedic romance filled with a love for fashion, drama, romance, and the power of friendship. I really enjoyed Chloe’s self-discovery and finding her place in her new life.

He made me realize how empty my old life had been. And in his eyes, I saw a future that I wanted more of, a future where I was a better person.
